Join us in May as Cindy Newberry and Parcella Provence will speak to us about American Sign Language, what it is, why it is used and how you can learn it. Included will be an introduction to the alphabet and some basic signs for you to use. The presenters: Cindy Newberry took sign language courses at Chemeketa Community College in Salem which helped her land a job at Oregon State School for the Deaf in 1980. Parcella Provence began learning sign language in 1985, eventually completing the one-year certificate program at Western Oregon State College in 1989.
References and handouts will be provided.
This is a great opportunity to get you started on learning ASL.
